Communications Advisor

Council’s Communications Department is seeking a creative, adaptable and grounded Communications Advisor who thrives on variety and who enjoys working with people.

We are looking for a self-starter with strong writing skills, a flair for managing social media and sound judgement, to join our busy and skilled Communications Team.

You will work on a wide range of communications activities and events across the organisation, including our regular newspaper pages, newsletters, press statements, Council’s social media platforms, website, intranet, You Tube, O Week and other special events, to name a few. Your ability to think creatively will ensure these are consistently fresh and interesting.

Your knack for building relationships and communicating with a diverse range of people will be essential as you will be interacting with the public, members of the media, elected members, and staff at all levels of Council.

Working at this level, you will of course have a recognised qualification, or equivalent experience, in the communications/media field. You’ll have a careful eye for detail, and have demonstrable experience producing a variety of quality written communications and items for digital media

You are well-organised yet flexible – meaning you’ll take the busy nature of this role in your stride with a willingness to try new things and further develop your skills as part of the Communications Team.
