The work of bees in pollinating and producing honey has huge benefits for our community. However, there are some things to think about if you are considering getting a hive.
You must make sure that your bees don’t become dangerous or a nuisance to others living in your neighbourhood. If we receive complaints, we may require you to limit the number of hives you have, and where you place them.
We have a bylaw which includes the keeping of bees, refer to the Keeping of Animals, Poultry and Bees Bylaw, found on our Bylaws page.
And remember that if you keep hives, you must register them to help prevent the spread of the bacterial foulbrood disease.
The apiary registration form can be filled out online, as can other, related forms.
