Covid-19 Alert Level impacts project

As we approach the planned start date for the City Streets Upgrade in Esk Street of Monday, August 23, the move to Covid -19 Alert Level 4 has understandably had an impact.

The City Streets Upgrade Team is working with our Contractor, Downer, to understand what impacts the current lockdown, and any change in Alert Levels may mean for the project.

Work which began in Don Street earlier this week has not caused any risk to essential services like wastewater, water, or power supplies.

This means that during Alert Level 4, no work will be undertaken in the street.

Downer is confident that work will be able to resume in Don Street and start in Esk Street should we move to Alert Level 3, however there will be some impact on the way they planned to provide access for couriers and rubbish collection in Esk Street.

Downer will be contacting couriers and waste services in the coming days to let them know what this means if we do move to Alert Level 3 or lower.

We will be able to provide further updates when we have certainty around Alert Levels for next week.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, please email citystreets@icc.govt.nz
