Staistics for the Invercargill and Bluff Waste Treatment Plants are a guide only. Volumes, treatment and disposal of sewage and wastewater can vary greatly which may be attributed to wet weather and seasonal industry such as fish and meat processing.

Clifton Waste Treatment Plant

The Clifton Waste Treatment Plant, Invercargill, receives sewage from about 50,000 people (and industrial effluent equivalent to a population of about 10,000). The average daily flow from the plant is 25,000 cubic metres, with a maximum permitted flow of 90,000 cubic metres.

Bluff Treatment Plant

The Bluff Treatment Plant receives sewage from about 2000 people and industrial effluent equivalent to a population of about 7500. The average daily flow from the plant is 1300 cubic metres, with a maximum permitted flow of 3850 cubic metres.

Public dump station

The public dump station at 20 Spey Street was decommissioned in 2013. Council Drainage and Solid Waste Manager Malcolm Loan said motor home motorists could use the sewage dump station located at the Glengarry Shopping Centre which was free for the public to use. “This is a much better place for motor homes to visit as there is plenty of room for manoeuvring and parking a motor home. There are also nearby shops for refuelling, repairs and getting supplies,” Mr Loan said.
