The Invercargill City Youth Council is holding an online competition called Isolate. Innovate. Create. – a creative challenge held virtually via Facebook.
The idea for this challenge came about when New Zealand went into Alert Level 4 and therefore the Youth Council could no longer plan to hold Youth Week Event in the CBD.
Youth Week is an annual nationwide festival celebrating the talents, passion and success of young people and runs from 9 -17 May 2020.
The Youth Council’s Youth Week Isolation Challenge encourages Southland youth, between the ages of 12-18 to beat their isolation blues by getting creative.
Youth can enter a creation in one of three arty categories: Visual Art, Writing and Video.
Each art form has a different theme to follow, representing the themes of Youth Week 2020 and how youth can: be connected & supported, stay physically active and lead community response.
And if our rangatahi need another incentive to enter, there is also a $50 prize up for grabs for first place in each category.
In keeping with isolation guidelines and maintaining social distancing, young people can enter online via the Invercargill Youth Council Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/InvercargillYouthCouncil/ or through our email youth.council@icc.govt.nz.
Entries officially opened Thursday 9 April at 5pm and close on Thursday 14 May at 5pm.
Winners will be announced on Saturday 16 May.
