A recommendation to extend the date for releasing decisions on the Proposed Invercargill City District Plan, put forward by the Regulatory Services Committee, was approved at the Council meeting on Tuesday (11 August 2015).
Senior Policy Planner Liz Devery said the Resource Management Act 1991 required decisions on District Plans to be released no longer than two years from the date the Plan was publicly notified – 24 August 2013.
“Given the time needed to fully consider submissions and to draft decisions, the timeframe would not have been met,” she said. “An extension of time under sections 37 and 37A of the Resource Management Act 1991 has been approved by Council, and the new date of 30 June 2016, has been set.”
A letter will be posted to all submitters advising them of the change.
Council received 120 submissions and 50 “further submissions” on the plan which raised over 2,300 points. There have been 12 hearings since May 2014 and a final hearing will be held on 1 September 2015 to hear submitters and consider all of the submission points.
