Rabbit control

A rabbit control operation is scheduled for Invercargill City Council land at Eastern Cemetery, Southland Crematorium and Sandy Point in November and December 2018.

The first phase of the operation will be a controlled twilight/night rabbit shoot.

The second phase of the operation will be the placement of Magtoxin pellets at Eastern Cemetery and Southland Crematorium only. Careful controls will be in place to ensure no residual pellets remain following completion of the operation.

The operations are weather dependent.

To minimise risk during the operations please note:

  • Warning notices will be posted at all commonly used access points into the operational areas.
  • Dogs and domestic pets should be kept away from the operational areas at all times.
  • Rabbits should not be taken for eating.
  • Pellets should not be handled.
