Motorists are being encouraged to plan ahead, as Invercargill’s inner-city thoroughfares are set to undergo a facelift.
The work, being carried out by Highways South, is expected to begin this week and will run until late March. It will take place at night between 6pm and 6am, to reduce disruption for road users and businesses.
Crews will begin on SH6 Dee St from Troopers roundabout to Spey St (one direction at a time) moving on to SH1 Tay St (as far as Deveron St) in the first phase.
Roads will continue to remain open during the day, but road users should expect small lips/drops, and other changes such as exposed manhole covers – please drive with extra caution.
The first phase of work is programmed to end before the Burt Munro Challenge (between February 5 – 9) and the second phase will begin again on February 10.
Please follow the signposted detours, and allow additional time for your journey.
