Strengthening heritage buildings: fund update

Funding applications to Heritage EQUIP, the Government’s seismic upgrade fund for heritage buildings, can be accepted at any time but the close-off date to be considered at the next assessment panel meeting is 27 November 1917.

Heritage EQUP Fund manager Mike Frew said the next opportunity would be on 28 March 2018. “We have made 13 funding offers to date with the smallest being for $10,000 and the largest being for more than $1 million,” he said. “Projects have been located across the country with Napier the most active. We’ve also received more than 20 further expressions of interest for future funding.”

Full guidance on making an application can be found on the heritageequip.govt.nz website. Navigate to the “how to apply” section.

“Our new website has been live for about a month now. It includes information to help owners navigate their way through the seismic upgrade process, and features case studies of recently funded work,” Mr Frew said. “New content will be added regularly, and we will grateful for content suggestions.”
