Unattended hosing and the use of garden sprinklers are prohibited in Invercargill and Bluff until further notice.
“This restriction has been made necessary because of low flows in the Oreti River,” Invercargill City Council Water Manager Alister Murray said today.
Under the resource consent to take water from the river, the Council is required to invoke water restrictions when the river falls to a certain low flow rate.
Update: full hosing ban starts on Sunday
