LGOIMA Proactive Release

Last updated on 31 January 2024 at 8.03am

As part of our commitment to remaining open and accountable, we proactively release information and documents that are of interest to the public. We reset our approach in July 2023.

In accordance with the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) and guidance from the Office of the Ombudsman it is important that information that no longer needs to be excluded from the public should be released when it is possible to do so.

This also includes responses to LGOIMA requests where we feel it is in the public interest to also disclose the information.

Proactive Release

This is where items that have been in the public excluded agenda of Council and Committee meetings will be released to.

Our first part of this project is to capture all meetings from the beginning of this triennium of Council with all meetings from 1 November 2022 moving forward. We will then be able to work backwards on some key projects of interest to our community. Watch this page.

Format of this page

This page will be displayed by month and year. Within each month there will be a heading for the meetings of Council’s standing Committees and Council that meet that month.

Minutes, where they can be released, will follow at least one month behind as we must wait for them to be confirmed by the Committee/ Council the following month.

There might be an occasion where a report or minutes are updated as more information is able to be released (for example after an event has occurred), we will update the information and make it clear that the document is an updated version.

LGOIMA

Council receives a number of LGOIMA requests every year. There are some requests that hold a public interest aspect, this means that it can be appropriate to publish the information we release. It will be on a case by case basis, and all identifying information for the requester would be removed.
