Drive up, jump out, dive in! The Southland Aquatic Centre – Splash Palace – is one of the top public pool facilities in New Zealand. The indoor aquatic centre is within walking distance of the central business district and close to a large selection of motels and parks.
Facility Update
Splash Palace is currently experiencing staff shortages due to illness. To ensure we are able to maintain adequate staffing levels, and continue to provide a safe and fun environment for all of our pool users, some temporary changes will be in effect.
Please see below for up-to-date information regarding operation times over the coming days.
Thursday 3 April
Splash Palace was closed in the morning, and the facility will re-open at 3.30pm. From 3.30pm, there will be no impact to Swim School classes, clubs, or other bookings.
Friday 4 April
Normal facility opening hours apply (5.30am – 9pm), however the Leisure Pool will be open from 5.30am – 10am, and 2.30pm – 9pm.
Saturday 5 April
Change to facility opening hours. Splash Palace will be open between 8am – 4pm, instead of closing at 6pm.
Sunday 6 April
Change to facility opening hours. Splash Palace will be open from 8am – 4pm, instead of closing at 6pm.

The facility includes a 50m x 8 lane sports pool with a bulkhead, a leisure pool with waves and sprays, a tots’ pool and a learners’ pool. There is also a water slide, spa pool, sauna and cafe – all indoors and with free off-street car parking.
