Council adopts Long-Term Plan

The Invercargill City Council’s 2015-2025 Long-Term Plan was adopted by Councillors at an extraordinary Council meeting yesterday (30 June 2015).

Two versions of the plan are available on the ICC website: the full plan as a single document and the component sections (eg Fees and Charges) as separate files.

A rates increase of 3.89% for the year 2015/2016 was approved. The report includes projected rates for the next 10 years and outlines key
areas of expenditure.

The report incorporates changes made as a result of consultation and hearings held on May 28 and May 29. Council’s Strategy and Policy Manager, Melissa Short, said Councillors, with the support of staff, had tried to balance affordability for ratepayers whilst maintaining core infrastructure and the environment.

“Thanks to the people who submitted their views on Council’s proposals,” she said, “we received the feedback needed to ensure the direction Council is taking is the right one,” Ms Short said.
