Splash Palace is changing its weekend opening hours from the end of May.
From the weekend of 27 May, the pool will be open from 8am to 6pm at weekends, a change from the current opening hours of 6am to 8pm on Saturdays and 8am to 8pm on Sundays.
Invercargill City Council Manager Aquatic Services Stephen Cook said the change in hours would have minimal impact on customers and clubs and would better reflect current pool use.
“The pools are generally very quiet during the times we are proposing to be closed,” he said.
“Our first priority is our customers, and we look forward to seeing our early birds and night owls at slightly different times.”
Splash Palace was currently operating well with upgrades to the facility being well received by the public.
Opening hours were never set in stone, so if there was a need for the pool to re-extend its hours that would definitely be considered in the future, he said.
“Splash Palace belongs to the community, and we’ll always reflect that in the way we operate.”
Splash Palace’s weekday opening hours, Monday to Friday from 5.30am to 9pm, remain unchanged. The new weekend opening hours would be in place from Saturday, May 27, Cook said.
